ARE YOU PREGNANT OR PLANNING A FAMILY ?
PREGNANCY PLANNING
If you are planning a pregnancy please book a “preconception planning” appointment with one of our GPs.
There are a number of things we can suggest to make your pregnancy as safe as possible.
GP SHARED CARE
If you are a well woman and have an uncomplicated normal pregnancy and would like your usual GP to look after you during your pregnancy, GP antenatal shared care may be an option for you . Ask your GP at Hamilton doctors to see if you would be suitable .
We would love to care for you !
Where do I have my pregnancy checkups?
You will have some of your pregnancy care with your GP and some, at specified times, with the midwives or doctors at the Antenatal Clinic at the John Hunter Hospital. Your antenatal (pregnancy) care is managed by the GP under the umbrella of the John Hunter Hospitals’ Antenatal clinic .
PRIVATE OBSTETRIC CARE
If you are privately insured and want to have private antenatal care with an obstetrician we can confirm your pregnancy, organise some routine tests and refer you on for your ongoing antenatal (pregnancy) care.
We like to meet you with your baby 2 weeks after you have given birth to check both mum and bubs progress and to assist in planning your ongoing care.
